Nancy Brama
Nancy, along with her husband, began volunteering and working in the student project area during the 1970s when the MITES Annual Convention was held in Traverse City. Both of them continued working together every year until his death in 2001, and she has dedicated herself to continuing on her own ever since.
A former teacher with a degree from Michigan State University, Nancy taught elementary students for St. Genevieve School in Livonia, Michigan from 1975 to 1986, then continued her career at St. Sabina School in Dearborn Heights, Michigan, teaching 7th and 8th grade. It was at St. Sabina that her students took part in Science Olympiad, where they competed in building bridges, towers, and mousetrap racers.
Nancy’s husband was an
Industrial Arts teacher and
a member of MIES/MITES
for 43 years. Her continued
support lead her to be awarded a MITES
Honorary Life membership in 1992. Along with long-time member John Hovis, Nancy has also volunteered for the job of MITES historian.
